Descripción y detalle de las actividades

Manage the purchasing process including requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment. Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management. Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids, manage and evaluate new and existent vendors, negotiates contracts and sourcing agreements. Leads and direct the work of purchasing buyers, senior buyers and supervisors to assure all indirect and direct resources are delivered on time for the company operations.


  • Draft, explain and implement work instructions, purchasing policies and department procedures in alignment with Mettler Toledo global procedures.
  • Launch competitive biddings, analyze proposals and conclude sourcing and awarding decisions for new and existing vendors.       
  • Negotiate and implement long term agreements and contracts with suppliers and external contractors.
  • Tracks teams Key Performance Indicators and update the Teams performance tracker, assigns actions and activities to align strategy to achieve department goals.    
  • Develops new vendors and evaluate potential suppliers with the collaboration of Quality and end user areas.
  • Creates the team´s individual development and training plans.
  • Collaborates with Planning to secure production demand and schedule is secured and resources needed to meet the production plan are met.
  • Tracks and registers hard savings and cost avoidance initiatives in the Stern drive report.
  • Conduct purchasing cycle for Capex-CAR´s (Capital Assets Requirements).
  • Conciliates weekly report of Open Orders and Open Requisitions.

Experiencia y requisitos

  • Bachelor's degree in business, international relations, trade, logistics and supply chain management, engineering.
  • +10 years' experience in manufacturing industries managing and procuring materials with local and international vendors.
  • APICS CPIM Certified, KARRASS effective negotiation, ISO 9001 Internal Auditor.
  • Financial acumen and logistics understanding.
  • Incoterms, trade & compliance, experience using ERP´s specially cloud platforms (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.).
  • Valid Visa to enter the United States.
