Overview
We are looking for an experienced, action-oriented, hands-on Senior Project Engineer who will be responsible for project leadership and support. The projects will be oriented to improve product quality, launch to production new plastic injection molds and reduce product cost. The candidate will also work on solving performance problems of Rain Bird products, leading investigations that prevent Rain Bird from delivering products to customers with the required Rain Bird quality. The candidate is expected to resolve complex problems.
Responsibilities
- Determine root causes of product quality issues and develop and implement systemic solutions to eliminate future recurrences. Develop product and process improvements to address these causes.
- Work closely with manufacturing plants on implementing improvements.
- Lead quality improvement projects from initial conception/justification through validation and implementation.
- Lead new product development, brainstorming, prototyping and implementation of new concepts from concept to production implementation.
- Responsible for maintaining product lifecycle quality and design integrity
Experiencia y requisitos
Qualifications
- BS Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
- 10+ years relative experience to include design, project engineering, or product engineering with increasing levels of responsibility
- Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of design/mechanical engineering concepts
- Working knowledge and experience with:
- manufacturing processes used in RB (ultrasonic welding, injection molding, fasteners, etc)
- plastic and elastomeric materials.
- Mechanical structures.
- Fluid dynamics/mechanics.
- Experience and a desire to collaborate with other functional areas to achieve objectives.
- Proven track record of leading projects to the finish line.
- Capacity to prioritize and determine where to focus limited resources.
- Proficient in the use of CAD packages including modeling, assembly, and drafting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, SPC, FMEA, DOE and Six Sigma techniques.
- Understanding and application of root cause analysis, optimization, and reliability studies
- Knowledge of FEA and CFD – performing finite element analysis
- Experience with product testing techniques such as environmental stress or HALT
- Bilingual – English, Spanish

- Project management and planning experience
- Experience with fluid control devices and solenoids
